Sixteen editions in, the rainbow jersey finally lands in Asia. Niseko in high summer is a different country to the ski resort the world knows, quiet mountain roads, the Sea of Japan in the distance, and Mount Yōtei in every photograph.
Open the week with a flat 16.3 km time trial. Back it up with the team relay. Then line up Sunday for 140 kilometres and 2,370 metres of climbing, with one honest 840-metre climb from sea level past halfway and a final kilometre that stands up until the line.
Choose an escorted, fully hosted Championships week or go Lite with a lean, logistics-supported format. Either way, you ride for your country in Japan.
