| Distance | 145.6 km |
Why this stage matters
A day for the fast men, if they can hold on.
Menglers Hill is short, 2.16 km at 3.9% average, but it kicks to 13.3%, and the race climbs it at 10 km, 54.4 km and 103.5 km. Each pass thins the bunch a little more. The two intermediate sprints both come in Tanunda, at 18.4 km and 67.6 km.
The finish on Murray Street climbs gently to the line. It suits a sprinter who can still kick after three climbs, and it punishes one who arrives on the limit.
Watching Stage 2
Menglers Hill gives you three passes and a view across the valley. Tanunda has both sprints. Angaston has the start and the finish on the same street, so you can see the riders leave and come back for the finish.
Wednesday is arrival day on the Mummu Tour Down Under journey. The airport pick up is at 2pm, there is a welcome ride at 4pm and dinner together that night. From Thursday the group is out for every race day.
