Stage 17 leaves Muret, just southwest of Toulouse, and runs 186 km west to Pau. It is the last flat day before the high mountains, and the sprinters know it.
Pau hosts the Tour for the 78th time, more often than any city except Paris and Bordeaux. Olav Kooij won here in 2026, and Christian Prudhomme expects another sprinter to follow him. The breakaway gets its say first, at the intermediate sprint in Castelnau-Magnoac and on the Côte de Baleix as the finish comes into view.
Behind it all the Pyrenees fill the horizon. Tomorrow is the queen stage.
On Wednesday 21 July you can start this stage in the Departure Village in Muret or finish it at the Izoard finish line in Pau. Next is Stage 18, Pau to Saint-Lary-Soulan Col du Portet. See every stage of the 2027 Tour de France, and every ticket on Tour de France tickets.
