“A flat sprint day can be the sketchiest day of the week.”
This is the sprinters’ first proper target, and the sprint teams will ride like they’ve been caged all week. Narrow rural roads and fast leadouts make positioning more valuable than raw speed. When trains clash, the gaps vanish and riders start making decisions they’d never make on fresh legs. If you’re not already near the front when it lights up, you’ll be sprinting for damage control.
